Eddie Halliwell

Like a lot of men, Eddie Halliwell has a one-track mind. Only there is a slight difference in Eddie's case - the only thing he can think about is DJing. Riding to prominence on the wave of his lightning-wristed deck trickery, the Wigan boy done good continues to push his turntable skills to a level that would put the likes of Morillo to shame. Testament to these skills, he has never bowed to churning out an engineer-guided production simply to inflate his profile. And he wouldn't have it any different. "Ultimately, I see production as a different world and a different craft," he tells DJmag. "When my passion wanes to travel as a DJ and learn new tricks, then maybe I will look at taking two months off to focus on production." Never taking his eye of the globe-trotting DJ ball, Eddie even severed his four year presenting responsibility with the BBC after the demands to record the show in London each week resulted in too many missed opportunities. "It was taking me away from what I really want to be doing," he explains. Not that his passport has been collecting dust in a drawer somewhere. As well as Australia, Canada and Asia, Eddie's caused Balearic hysteria at Cream Ibiza and Judgement Sundays, as well as taking his Fire It Up brand across the country and beyond, even hosting an arena at Ireland's massive Planet Love rave-up. "The rate of interest in Fire It Up has really amazed me," beams Eddie, who mixed the first 'Fire It Up' compilation in his trademark two-pronged house and electro-tech against tech 'n' trance format.
