When Eric Prydz followed his 'Call On Me' cheese-ball with a slew of mean and moody Pryda material back in'04, we knew we'd never pin him down to one single style. And that's just the way he likes it. "Making one style has never been what I'm about," he tells DJmag. "I just make the music that I feel is missing in my record box and try to create something as fresh as possible." Ironic, then, that his chart damager 'Pjanoo' had actually been gathering dust in the bottom of his hard drive. "'Pjanoo' is actually over two-years-old," he explains. "I didn't really get the response I expected the first time so I kind of forgot about it. I played it again at a Christmas party in Stockholm and it really went off. Someone recorded it on Youtube and the hype built from there." Arguably the year's single biggest anthem, the track was a staple in Prydz's Ibizan sets this summer, much like his mind tunnel techno of his 'Total Departure' rework. "That new Amnesia terrace is the new main room for me," reflects Eric on Ibiza. "And Wonderland was a phenomenal gig also. I was a bit sceptical as it's in San Antonio and all that but we were just amazed." And as 'Pjanoo's uplifting chimes continue to ring out, Prydz has wasted no time in dropping his latest Pryda EP, which balances the tripped-out, acid-scorched prog of 'Evouh' with 'Rakfunk''s Prince nodding electro-funk and the cosmic afro-beat of 'Wapanki'.
