Ten years ago, Norman Cook squeezed more achievements into one week than most DJs would have in a lifetime. "I knocked Robbie Williams off the No.1 spot, got engaged to Zoe Ball and won a Brit," he recalls, still seemingly in wonderment today. "That one week completely changed my life." Norman now has cause to look back on that "crazy time" with the forthcoming 10th anniversary re-release of his classic album 'You've Come A Long Way, Baby'. "Every anniversary is a good reason to celebrate," he says and 2008 has seen him do so in the most spectacular manner possible, with a 38-date tour of stadiums and festivals concluding with his triumphant homecoming at his fourth Brighton Beach Boutique party at the end of September. "I never feel so much love as when I play in Brighton," he raves. "The weather was perfect, the crowd was amazing and we even beat Manchester City that day!" Now, after his hectic tour, Cook is finally getting around to releasing his Brighton Port Authority project sometime in January. "It was a series of recordings I did with the likes of Iggy Pop, David Byrne, Martha Wainwright and Jamie T," he explains. "They got lost in all the Fatboy fever until my engineer found them lying around my house recently." Just because he's come a long way doesn't mean he has to leave everything behind.
