Be it at Tokyo's Womb, Ibiza's We Love or Brazilian beach club Warung, Hernan Cattaneo continues to spread his sound the globe over, as well as releasing tracks like his Urbantorque venture 'Anime', yet he remains one of the most relaxed, understated and grounded characters around. But, then, that's the Cattaneo experience all over - an epic, emotional journey at a calm and masterfully measured pace. "Probably the most important set I played was the closing of Yello in Tokyo," he tells DJmag. "It's the only place where I got to play 12-hour sets each time. It was the perfect club - black, dark, with an amazing soundsystem and a crowd that never asked you to play harder or more commercial. You could play at 120bpm for four hours." Hernan is undoubtedly Argentina's iconic ambassador of electronic music, a travelling musical democrat and celebrated national hero. "I don't play there often but when I do it's like a home-coming," he tells us. "When an Argentinean succeeds internationally everybody supports him. This year I played Moonpark, in Beunos Aires, and the response was amazing." Citing Macedonia, Romania and Greece as other territories that have responded best to his deep and warm voyages, Cattaneo also hypes Spain's Monegros festival as another highlight. "As it's more of a techno festival I wasn't really sure how I would go down as my music is more on the deep side, but it went really, really well," he relays. Always building, next year will see the arrival of Hernan's own digital label.
