This year has brought some big changes for Nic Fanciulli. Having performed with James Zabiela as a tag team - "which was great" - it was the first time that he played solo as a DJ in a while. Technology has also brought considerable changes to Fanciulli's DJing. Having switched over to Traktor Scratch, he no longer has to "spend hours burning CDs. I can take much more time preparing my sets". Apart from his residency at Space in Ibiza, Fanciulli has clocked up a serious number of air miles in the past year. In particular, he's toured Asia, Australia, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe in the space of two months, playing an exhausting 20 gigs January and February. "The WMC in Miami marked the end of this madness - I needed a break afterwards," he says. Apart from his Ibiza residency, Nic cites France, Italy and Hungary as hotspots at the moment and is generally upbeat about the direction house music is taking. "Everything has gone back to grooves and funk, less bleeps and whooshes," he believes. "I saw Garnier play for nearly three hours at Space recently and it was a proper house set." Nic is about to start work on the second Skylark album and then the madness starts again in the New Year, with tours of the Middle East and Asia lined up.
