Tech-trancer Simon Patterson claims 2008 has been a defining year. A hectic worldwide tour schedule and a regular supply of heavyweight productions have propelled the Irishman into the chart for the first time. "It's been one of the best years ever," Simon grins. "To be contacted by DJmag is just unbelievable - I'm gobsmacked to be anywhere near the Top 100. I've tried so hard this year to make the tunes as big as possible and to play as many gigs as I can so I'm just so happy that it's paid off!" Although hailing from Ireland, the ex-Dogzilla man is most excited about the state of trance beyond the UK. "It's great to see other countries and other vibes and to build up new fan-bases in far flung countries," he says. "I've been playing the UK for the last four or five years at places like Godskitchen and Gatecrasher, but the last two years it's really taken off internationally. "Although I'm still really passionate about the UK, the international scene is just so fresh right now. People know their trance and are really passionate about the scene so it's great to be exposed to these things." With 'Bulldozer' tearing up clubs across the globe and Patterson's tour schedule on overload, the Spinnin' Records man is set to truly make his mark. Simon Patterson's career is in ascendancy.
