Dutch descendant Stuart 'Lange' Langelaan is proud to be a trance star. "I don't think any other genre can reach the emotions that trance does. There are pockets around the world, like in Eastern Europe, that are going as mad as ever for it," he says. And having toured the world as a DJ and producer for over ten years, as well as running Lange Recordings and his own radio show during recent years, he should know. Lange's year has taken in a period of writer's block - "I tried to not let myself get too pressured and eventually it sorted itself out," he remembers - as well as a tour of Australia and Indonesia, a new compilation to compliment his successful Intercity radio show, and a slew of digital releases. "Vinyl is pretty much dead in trance. To keep up with things, test my own edits, make travelling easier - I had to go digital. I don't plan to become a laptop DJ, though. That would be a step too far for me." In the coming months, look out for a ten-year anniversary re-rub of trance classic 'Happiness Happening', as well as a new studio album from Lange.
