After several years of hard work, Industria - the club masterminded by acid-tinged tech house artist DJ Vibe - opened in Portugal last year. Its launch has allowed Vibe - probably Portugal's most important and influential DJ - to put his energies into other projects during 2011. “This year I was more focused on DJing,” says Vibe (António Pereira). “2011 has been great so far,” he continues. “Ibiza, Brazil just finished, USA and Canada, back to Ibiza and still more to come at the end of the year. I am also back to the studio after two years dedicated to the construction of Industria.” However, as Pereira knows, opening a club is only half the battle - sustaining it is the difficult part, particularly with a DJ career alongside. “It's not easy to run a club and play as a DJ. Luckily, things are going well. The club is a fantastic underground room with an amazing soundsystem.” Next year, Vibe will shift his focus from DJing to production, releasing a track with New York DJ Danny Tenaglia and working on new material. “More studio action. For sure!” is how Pereira succinctly sums it up. TRISTAN PARKER
