Paul Oakenfold's story is woven so tightly into the fabric of what we know as 'dance music' that he surely needs no introduction. Yet he is still pushing boundaries. His residency in Las Vegas has helped the city win the tag of the 'Ibiza of the USA'. “It is still growing and evolving,” Paul tells us, “and with festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival it's just scratched the surface and I'm really excited to see what's next.” Oakenfold finds the current upheavals in the business side of music to be exhilarating, as he explains to DJmag. “It is the Wild West at the moment and I kind of love the chaos! It forces people to become more creative with less.” Plans for 2012 include his next artist album 'Pop Killer', accompanied by a full international tour. “We're crossing over without changing who we are,” he says of the current state of play. “That was the goal: be yourself and be accepted.” DAVID MCCARTHY
