Questions Top100 DJs 2012 - admin - 2015-06-30 17:19

Best known for:
Making and playing music
Tune of the year:
Dada Life 'Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker'
Breakthrough DJ/Producer of 2012:
Paris Hilton
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be:
I would be able to sit down at a machine, let's call it a computer, and punch some things into a pad with buttons, and magically make sounds that a lot of people like.
Should you play to the crowd or for yourself:
The key is getting to a point where playing to the crowd and playing for yourself are the same thing.
What does EDM mean to you:
It stands for Electronic Dance Music and it means dance music that was made electronically.
Should celebrities be DJs:
If they're good DJs then great, if they aren't then they could always date an already-famous DJ.
Have you ever been thrown off the decks:
Not exactly, but back in the day when I used to play at my friends' parties, they would always get raided by police. Although, I always booted long before the police got inside.
Are you a DJ if you don't beat match:
Yes, but a really bad one.
Where's the next dance music capital:
No idea, but somewhere in the northwest hemisphere.

The rise of versatile talent Mat Zo continues, with the young DJ and producer acquiring a larger fanbase seemingly by the day. Release-wise, the wonky electro of the 'Bipolar' EP was a delight, but Zo's main 2012 focus has been

"finishing off my album and touring. I did my first full circle of the globe. I've also pissed off a lot of people accidentally." Overall, though, "it's been quite a rollercoaster", he says of 2012.

"A lot of failures and a lot of triumphs, but overall I have grown from it." 2013 will see Zo "releasing my album (finally) and trying to stop bitching on Twitter". The Twitter sniping is fine by us, but we're all ears for hearing his long-awaited full-length debut.
