Galantis were a new entry in last year’s DJ Mag Top 100, slipping in at No.98 — so it’s a big jump for them this year. The duo, comprised of Grammy-winning Christian Karlsson (of Miike Snow) and Linus Eklöw (Style Of Eye), the two initially met by chance at Karlsson’s studios in Stockholm, and fate filled in the rest. The combination of Karlsson’s pop background (let’s not forget he co-wrote Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’) combined with Eklöw’s techno-meets-house with a percussive, underground slant is a perfect recipe for what has exploded into Galantis: infectious, upbeat radio appeal sounds with a foot still squarely in dance music.

While they teased an album for 2016, none appeared, though they did deliver on three smashing originals: ‘No Money’, their first single to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; ‘Make Me Feel’, from the Netflix movie XOXO; and ‘Love On Me’, a collaboration with Hook N Sling. 2016 was also kind to them on the touring end, seeing them hit major nightclubs like Las Vegas’ Marquee, but also the best of the fests from EDC to Ultra. If 2017 does indeed herald their second album, we’re sure this duo (and their half fox, half jellyfish mascot The Seafox) will have an even bigger year than the explosive one they’ve just experienced.
