Despite having already achieved so much, Diplo managed to peak once again in 2019 by picking up the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for ‘Electricity’, the track he made with Mark Ronson, Dua Lipa as Silk City.

A notorious collaborator who has worked with Skrillex as Jack Ü, and Walshy Fire and Ape Drums (previously Jillionaire and Switch) as Major Lazor, this year found Diplo form LSD, a pop supergroup also consisting of Australian singer Sia, and British musician Labrinth. Their debut album landed in April and you’ve probably heard one of the tracks from it already, as their single ‘Thunderclouds’ featured in a commercial for the Samsung Galaxy Note9.

The man born Thomas Wesley assumed his birth name for a rather surprising new country song, ‘So Long’, with American country singer Cam this year. He has said it is one of “several forthcoming collaborations with country artists” that are planned.

After appearing in a number of films and documentaries, the father of two boys also returned to the big screen this year and played himself in the hit Detective Pikachu movie. Quite the year!
