2019 has been a certified beast for the man like Schulz. One of the biggest names in mainstream German house music, with over 250 gold and platinum awards to his name and a Grammy nomination in the past, he continues to set new personal benchmarks.

Since the last Top 100 he’s had another huge commercial hit in the form of ‘Speechless’ (which smashed the top 10 in 10 countries) and then another airwave-drenching sing-along nugget ‘All This Love’ with previous Britney Spears writer Harloe. Not content with dropping current hits, he also reminded us of his almighty breakthrough anthem ‘Prayer In C’ with special anniversary and VIP remixes, and he’s just flipped the funk switch with his new single ‘Rather Be Alone’.

“This year was very special for me,” agrees Robin, who hit two billion views on his YouTube back in Spring and has spent most of the year playing globally at major festivals such as Tomorrowland, Marquee Vegas and regular spots at David Guetta’s BIG at Ushuaïa and Parookaville. “I love to play and be on stage!”

Do you submit your DJ setlists to the relevant royalties collecting society?

“My team does.”

What more can we do to combat the mental health crisis in our scene?

“I think this is not only a scene problem. This is an international culture illness and a demographic problem.”

Are you personally doing anything to improve the gender balance of line-ups?

“No, but I’m very happy to see that the balance is growing — Amelie Lens, Peggy Gou and so on. For me, there was never a difference between genders, but I realised the balance was not there. I hope our scene can be a role model to fight this injustice in other parts of life too.”

What changes have you made this year to be more environmentally friendly?

“Food and garbage separation. I pay more attention to where my food comes from and how it is produced.”

What’s your guilty pleasure?

“Chips and chocolate.”
