Skrillex
| NON MOVER

It has been relatively quiet at Camp Skrillex for the last couple of years, but 2019 has been a veritable avalanche of new material. It would seem the in-demand producer has been holed up in the studio experimenting with sounds far removed from the dubstep and bass for which he is known.

He turned up twice on Ed Sheeran’s ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ as well as on albums from FKA Twigs and Zac Brown Band. His soulful remixes of Kelsey Lu and Lykke Li — the latter with recurring collaborator Ty Dolla $ign — are outstanding. The two enlisted Boys Noize for the unexpected R&B bouncer, ‘Midnight Hour’.

Skrillex also resurrected his and Boys Noize’s supergroup Dog Blood with the relentless ‘Turn Off The Lights’ EP and put out an intensely high energy EP of his own, ‘Show Tracks’. And he composed the opening song for the video game Kingdom Hearts III with Japan’s Utada Hikaru. All of this is surely hinting at the inevitable: the highly anticipated follow-up to Skrillex’s 2014 debut album, ‘Recess’.
