A 200-year-old theatre, Liverpool’s Barfly might have been given a lot of renovation love since is started hosting two of the UK’s best nights out in Yousef’s Circus and the faultlessly eclectic Chibuku, but it remains still full of ramshackle charm — which is precisely what makes it one of the UK’s most unique rave dens. Full of nooks and hooks, character pours out of every one of them.

“Whether it’s Carl Cox, John Digweed or myself, when that main room goes off — you know about it. It’s hard to beat,” says Yousef.
