Cabaret Voltaire
| NEW ENTRY

Named after the Dadaist art movement’s Swiss hangout during World War I that gave rise to the moniker of the early-’80s Sheffield new-wave band, Cabaret Voltaire is located in some of Edinburgh’s subterranean tunnels. Home to nights such as Optimo and the Utah Saints’ SugarBeat club, it really is a fine underground club.

“It’s like walking into a cave,” says Tim Garbutt from Utah Saints. “The crowd really know their music, and the owners Tim and Sarah live the life of clubbers and keep re-investing money back into the club to improve it.”
