When a DJ as well travelled as François K describes a club as the only venue he has truly felt at home in you know there must be something special about it. With a DJ journey than spans over 30 years, Kevorkian might have played such legendary venues as Studio 54, Paradise Garage and Tokyo's Yello (RIP), but it's his six-year Deep Space residency at Cielo that is the most defining of his DJ career.

Essentially a musical exploration through the many variant strains of dub past and present, each Monday night see the French born musical democrat segue effortlessly through dub originals, spaced-out comsic disco, the dub techno of acts like Basic Channel and the deep Detroit nodding dubstep 2562 and Martyn, the latter a privileged guest at the club last December.

Over recent months, Radio Slave, Beat Pharmacy and John Daly have also been given the chance to explore the deepest outreaches of their musical personality. Meanwhile, Wednesday nights at the intimate club venue play host to Louie Vega's Roots session, whilst Benny Benassi, Dessous and Ben Watt have all played on weekends.

"The love affair starts with the room's acoustics," explains François. "It's the right size, not too big, and the sound is really pleasant throughout and without reflective surfaces. The system itself is perfect without being overbearing.

"Then there's the fact that the design is conducive to more than just dancing - you can also relax, lounge around comfortably with your friends and take it all in with the plush seating all around the dancefloor. The staff are attentive and friendly and the décor is so uniquely futuristic but classy and minimalist.

"It has given us a home base to develop Deep Space. I honestly could not think of another venue that is comparable to Cielo for our purpose - it has the intimacy of being in someone's living room but with a soundsystem that can make you rethink about songs you thought you knew."
