The chandeliers might resemble a WAG's earrings, but The Warehouse has divested itself from most of the other glam accessories since it was Leeds' handbag house central with nights like Vague during the 1990s and the tranny-friendly Speedqueen that came after.

Spread over two floors, with the Velvet Bar upstairs and the 600-capacity main room below, the exposed brickwork and thumping soundsystem are now much more in tune with the rough-around-the-edges music policies of nights like Technique and Ketaloco that now hold court here.

"It's a massive club with a serious soundsystem and the vibe is a proper raving atmosphere, you can really stomp out in there," says DJ Paleface of funky outfit Crazy Cousinz.
