DESPITE its existence as a 600-capacity two-room venue in a relatively small city, there is big fun to be had in the bowels of this venue built within Edinburgh's ancient caverns. And with an average of 30 gigs every month, there's always plenty for noise-thirsty party fiends to choose from. Open seven nights a week, the venue's music policy stretches across indie and electro, with Erol Alkan, Justice, and Felix da Housecat all appearing recently.

"The people who come are real, and the staff love and know their music," says Jez from Utah Saints, a regular at the venue over the past six years.
