Slingshotting into this poll after only a year in operation, it's been a whirlwind few months for The Garage, Leeds. First winning Best Small Club via public vote for the DJ Mag Best Of British 2012, and now this recognition, as part of our international hall of fame.

This converted old firehouse with a Chevrolet for a DJ booth is Leeds' second highest entry, pipping even Mint Club to the post. With a record store attached (Waxwerks) and the bare-brick, dust-lined warehouse vibe of the main room, The Garage — now home to Back To Basics — injected something raw, unadulterated but most of all unique into an already heaving club scene when it opened in March 2012, winning a gushing stream of fanatic followers in the process.
