It's not exactly a secret, but the southern region of Italy has been an unsung international clubbing centre for a long time. One of the jewels in its crown is Guendalina, right on the heel of the boot of Italy. Born in 1997, Guendalina has the advantage of being near the equator, so that over the summer months it's able to be an outdoor club with great surroundings — and an unbelievable atmosphere when the sun comes up in the morning.

“In the past 12 months we've made little but significant changes, especially to the Arena — the heart of the club — where we changed the soundsystem and enlarged the console,” Guendalina tell DJ Mag. A cursory glance at their website shows that many of the world's greatest DJs have played Guendalina in the past — Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, David Guetta, Deep Dish, Luciano, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Louie Vega and so on.

This summer they'll be hosting Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dubfire, Monika Kruse and more. Its hordes of locals and holiday-makers have ensured that Guendalina has landed an improved placing at No.49 this year.
