EGG LDN
29

As the name suggests, this egg is all about growth, evolution and change. Especially over the past two or three years. As well as spending £300,000 on a custom-built Flipside soundsystem in both rooms and impressing all who've come through its doors, the Egg Terrace underwent a full make-over, as does its notorious garden on a regular basis. But it's the booking policy that's received most work. After veering slightly off course towards the end of the noughties, the Kings Cross venue has gradually re-established itself as one of London's top-end clubs. First priority has been to attract top names to in-house nights Egg Presents, Kurv, Familia, X Presents and Supernova.

Secondly, it was to attract the best underground brands led by the most respected names to the venue, with Yousef's Circus, Nick Curly's Trust, Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity and Anja Schneider's Mobilee all committing residencies to the club to blistering effect. You only need to see the line-up for the 12th birthday weekend in May (Green Velvet, Nick Curly, Nicole Moudaber, Hector Couto, Cuatero, No Artificial Colours) to realise how far this club has come.

We were so impressed when we visited last summer that we opted to place our regular DJ Mag Sessions parties at the venue, bringing names like Solomun, DJ W!LD, M.A.N.D.Y, Kerri Chandler, Omar S and Art Department here since November. Climbing almost 30 spots in the poll since last year, Egg LDN is clearly turning heads, but we get the impression the course of this egg's success is only embryonic.
