“The whole idea of D-Edge and the first D-Edge started in my hometown, Campo Grande,” founder Renato Ratier tells DJ Mag. “I was involved with my radio show, fashion accessories design, and started organising my first big parties and events, which eventually resulted in D-Edge opening.”

D-Edge is an impressive, futuristic-looking space full the the brim with LED panels (designed by visual artist Muti Randolph) — giving it a space-age feel. It has a discerning booking policy, with international DJs such as Hunter/Game, Joseph Capriati, Apollonia, Tale Of Us, Xo Chic, Lauren Lane, The Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler all guesting in the last year, along with renowned Brazilian DJs such as Julio Torres, Anderson Noise and Renato Ratier himself.

About to celebrate its 17th birthday, the exciting news from D-Edge HQ is that they’re about to open a sister club in Rio de Janeiro. They’ve also been staging the odd event outside of the main D-Edge space to increase their impact, and have organised “a couple of solidarity actions pointing out social problems, trying to do our part and make a contribution”.
