Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Zouk Kuala Lumpur is a sister club to Zouk Singapore, but with its 5,000-capacity now lays claim to being the largest club in Asia. It is housed in a purpose-built complex and has a sleek, futuristic elegance to its many bars and dancefloors. Of course, all the light, sound and visual technology is out of this world.
There are a million LEDs in the main room alone, and finely tuned Funktion-One soundsystems throughout the complex network of rooms. The club's motto is "One world, one music, one tribe, one dance", but in fact the different rooms take on different vibes each night.
The club turns 16 this year and now hosts half a million party people each year. Over the course of its history, Zouk KL has become known as a pioneering club in the region that always challenges musical monotony by mixing up popular sounds like hip-hop and R&B with more big name international DJs. Nicky Romero, Wildstylez, Porter Robinson, Timmy Trumpet and Markus Schulz have all brought the trance, EDM and prog-house styles in the last year, with DJ Mag, Red Bull, Ultra Japan and Cream all co-hosting their own events.
