IF you’re into big-name DJs playing big room sounds, Superface in Shenzen is the club for you. Re-launched in 2016, the club has welcomed Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Timmy Trumpet, Salvatore Ganacci, and dozens more A-list DJs in the last year. Superface has the added EDM extras, too, including confetti cannons that could take out a Death Star, a laser show that can probably be seen from space, and a soundsystem that lets you feel every kick-drum and sonic boom.
The action takes place in the cavernous main room, located on the fourth floor of a shopping mall in the heart of Shenzhen, with Hong Kong a short ferry or taxi away. Once inside, it’s all about worshipping the DJ and the music, with a sloping dancefloor leading towards the pulpit-like DJ stage.
The three-storey setup perfectly echoes the music policy at the club, with bottle-service tables, minimum spends and private SkyBox seating for the VVIPs. But make no mistake: open as late as 6.30am at weekends, Superface is not just a VIP bolthole and EDM palace, but also a space for hardcore nightclubbers.
