Throughout the pandemic, the distant rumble and notorious queue outside Berghain were glaringly missing from the hubbub of the Berlin weekend. Adorned with the words “MORGEN IST DIE FRAGE” (in English: “Tomorrow is the question”) for the entirety of its forced hiatus, the club sprang back in 2021 during the relaxation of German regulations, utilising its garten area for day parties before the main club nights started again with queue times of up to eight hours for entry. Christmas lockdowns forced the club into hibernation once again and scuppered its legendary New Year’s and birthday celebrations two years in a row.

Nevertheless, in 2022 it’s business as usual and as it steps into a ‘post-pandemic’ era, Berghain welcomes fresh faces into the fold. Sedef Adasi joins the likes of Tama Sumo, Virginia, nd_Baumecker and Nick Höppner as a resident. Darwin’s bass-focused party REEF also finds a new home at Berghain after the closure of its former home, Griessmuehle. Warning’s Marie Montexier has become a regular in Berghain’s main room after her emergence during the pandemic. DJ Fart in the Club, Francesco Del Garda and Radiant Love’s Byron Yeates and THC finally played Panorama Bar for the first time too, after countless rearrangements.
