After more than two years of pandemic-mandated uncertainty, Thailand's nightlife industry is returning to the days before Covid, with nightclubs and bars resuming regular hours in June and the Thai government recently relaxing quarantine rules for international travellers. For the colossal Illuzion, located in the raucous nightlife zone of Phuket’s Patong Beach, the travel restrictions of the past 24 months saw the club pivot from its usual big-name DJ bookings to focusing on talent closer to home. Those included some of Thailand’s biggest hip-hop artists, national rock and pop acts, and resident DJs, like Kraiz, DJ Tracks, DJ Tyvon, DJ Amp, and Virak.
For the rest of 2022 and beyond, the regular and eclectic showcases of heavyweight international acts will resume and recent technical improvements made to the club’s AV equipment are sure to enhance Illuzion’s already robust reputation. With Funktion-One, L-Acoustic and Outline soundsystems and a giant LED wall, the former shopping mall-turned-mammoth 6,500-square-metre club features three different rooms, more than 300 VIP tables and draws an average of 4,700 walk-ins every night. Despite the pandemic, Illuzion continues to be the party hotspot and point of reference in live music and entertainment in South-East Asia.
