Recently winning the Club (Northwest & Southwest) category in this year’s DJ Mag China Awards, the Play House empire continues to go from strength to strength.

Play House Chengdu, the third venture following clubs in Guiyang and Chongqing, recently moved from 48 Shuiyanhe Road to 65 Kehua North Road, Shiwaitaoyuan Square. With the new site kitted out with a "meta-universe stage design system", it’s now capable of hosting festival-sized events.

Featuring interior and exterior design by Chinese-Canadian designer Virgil Huang in collaboration with Ibiis Design Company, the venue’s 7,500 square-metres of space encompasses several zones, including the main Rave Hall, an After Eleven Pop Hall, Fashion Shop and Party Room. Sound, meanwhile, is supplied by France’s prestigious L-Acoustics K2, who’ve used 12 resonant sources to ensure the maximum sound field in the Rave Hall.

Play House celebrated its fourth anniversary in June and there are plans for co-branded crossover parties throughout the rest of the year. Covid unfortunately kept big-name international guests away over the last 12 months, but the club’s residents — including Drifter5, Miss Ann, Greg Katona, Midori, IKON, Buzzard, Black Noice and Mike Bond — have ensured the music kept playing.
