Watergate opened back in 2002, when Berlin’s Kreuzberg district still felt undiscovered. Now 20 years since its inception, Watergate is one of the most highly renowned venues in Berlin, inviting some of the biggest names in electronic music. After closure due to the pandemic, Watergate has come back stronger than ever. In the three months that the club was allowed to open at the end of last year, it hosted the likes of DJ Tennis, Âme live, Kölsch, Sven Väth, Carl Craig, Chez Damier, Sonja Monear and Ricardo Villalobos to name but a few. The venue also has a record label — Watergate Records — which launched in 2008 and displays the sound of the club and its many residents. The club is split over two floors and recently made some renovations — the terrace soundsystem has been upgraded and the Waterfloor that overlooks the Spree has new blinds, giving the dancefloor a beautiful, colourful light as the sun rises.

This year, a new night has been launched at the club on Sundays, bringing local Berlin artists and crews into the fold. 2022 will be a highly memorable year as the club celebrates its 20th anniversary; as well as a worldwide tour and inviting some iconic artists to play, Watergate will be hosting three open-air events across Berlin.
