When Rabin Shrestha launched a new clubbing experience in 2019, no one expected a global pandemic to hit. Its rock bar and electronic club concept quickly became popular, inviting live musicians and DJs to perform on its arena-style stage, which brought a d&b audiotechnik soundsystem and three moving hydraulic lighting rigs to Nepal for the first time.

At 9,600 square-feet, the redeveloped car park site promised to host international artists. Rave Republic performed within its first year, alongside Bollywood and Nepali music shows. Covid-19 forced the club to close for 18 months, where its efforts moved towards hosting live streams. Now reopened and recovering, Rabin tells DJ Mag, “the crowd has been amazing.”

The club’s ambitions are as big as the support it receives. International DJs such as Romeo Blanco rotate the residency slot alongside local DJs Redmus, Suren, Nadz, Saroj, Anish and Manitone. In 2022, an outdoor festival is in the making.
