Right from its opening day on Halloween of 2017, Bushwick, Brooklyn’s Elsewhere has proven itself, over and over, as a vital cog in New York’s ever-morphing nightlife machine. The former factory is split into several interconnecting spaces — including, in the warmer months, an absolutely glorious 700-capacity rooftop — allowing it to play host to mind-blowing 600-plus events each year. That sheer number of parties has allowed the club to bring in a hugely diverse array of acts, with everyone from Sean Paul to Bush Tetras performing live in recent months, and DJ sets ranging from disco daddies Horse Meat Disco to Aussie selector HAAi, and from Jon Hopkins to the Papi Juice crew. But the club hasn’t been resting on its laurels: this past winter, it upgraded the 1,000-cap Hall’s lighting array, flooring and facilities, and installed a new DJ booth in 300-cap space, Zone One. The coming year promises a continued emphasis on diverse line-ups, and for that, Elsewhere will no doubt continue to be celebrated.
