The backyard area of the sprawling Knockdown Center (which holds 3,200 people inside and 1,200 out) is called the Ruins, which should give you an idea of the singular vibe of the supremely post-industrial space — but, of course, not every post-industrial space happens to boast a concert-grade AV system in its main room. Located on the borderland between Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens (try to catch one of the erstwhile factory’s handy shuttle vans if you’re coming from the L Train), the 50,000-square-foot multidisciplinary arts venue has excelled in bringing in a kaleidoscopic spectrum of performers and DJs. 718 Sessions’ Danny Krivit, a tag-teaming Octo Octa and Eris Drew, and house heroes Kerri Chandler and Joe Claussell are just a small sampling of those who have played there in recent months.
