Master of minimal, true Detroit original and acid instigator: Richie Hawtin is all these things and more. Ripping up stark techno platters before much of the minimal new breed were out of nappies, it's only right that Hawtin should finally be reaping the rewards for the music that he's tirelessly championed.
With his label M-nus one of the hottest imprints out there and close to their 10th birthday, and a slew of highly successful gigs in Ibiza, Japan, Germany and beyond, it's been a massive year for the blonde wonder.
"There's been a lot of changes this year but everything has moved in a new forward direction," Hawtin observes. "There've been some amazing gigs - the M-nus Womb special in Tokyo, and the Cocoon/M-nus Ibiza Amnesia party, and Melt open-air in Germany. I'll never forget playing back-to-back with Danny Tenaglia at Pacha New York, and him turning off the soundsystem and singing happy birthday to me!"

Hawtin's label have also released a new compilation of M-nus classics, 'Nothing Much/Something More', which displays the deft dancefloor nous and effortless hip they've carefully cultivated, taking in minimal and tough house in equal measure.

"The next thing for me and M-nus is a compilation called 'Expansion Contraction' with new tracks from Plastikman and Dubfire from Deep Dish - his first for M-nus - and then gearing up to celebrate the 10th anniversary in 2008," reveals Richie.
