The deep dark dirty beats of underground house can seem a bleep filled place at times - little soul, little lift, little life. But Morillo - via Subliminal Records or the DJ box - changed all that. Filters, delays, special effects and loops aren't just buttons for Erick, they are the tools of his trade and this year has seen him use them to devastating effect.
'My World' action with P Diddy, 'Life Goes On' with Richard Grey, Jose Nunez and Shawnee Taylor and another Dronez moment courtesy of 'Call Me', kept Erick alive on the dancefloor, while his mix for 'Subliminal's Sessions 11' seduced us again.
The quality that trademarked the Subliminal label in 1997 continues to this day and house music, be it tribal, electro or deep, is a sounder genre because of it.

Erick's residencies at Pacha in Ibiza, Barcelona, London and New York, plus his Saturday Sessions at Ministry of Sound, summer manoeuvres at Le Palais in Cannes, and tailored grooves at Fabrik in Madrid guarantee he remains at the forefront of house.
"For me, playing in clubs is very important when it comes to producing tracks," says Erick. "The two go hand-in-hand."

So where ever he's played this year - be it Rotterdam, Birmingham and Las Vegas in a single weekend, standing in for Pete Tong on the Essential Selection or DJing by royal appointment for Princes William and Harry at the Concert For Diana party, Erick has processed the passion subliminally.
