Fedde Le Grand

Fedde Le Grand might not have troubled the UK chart to the same degree as he has in the last few years, but he says: "Most things I had in mind worked out." In fact, the only disappointment for the Dutchman is that after a year spent mainly working on his album, we'll have edged into 2009 before the world hears it. "The whole year has been about the album," says Fedde. "One half of it is… I don't like to say pop music, but stuff you can listen to in your car with lots of vocals, while the other half is tribal house tracks. I really can't wait to play that stuff out." Fedde's big change as a DJ this year has been the increase in re-edits and remixes he's made just for himself, to make things more interesting and give a better flow. "I've put a lot of effort in, especially over the summer festival season," he says. And it's the festival season that has given him his best gigs. SW4 and Global Gathering were both highlights, and despite playing early at the latter he had a packed tent. His musical sound has also shifted from electro to tech-house this year, whilst his Flamingo label unleashed tracks like '3 Minutes To Explain' by Fedde & Funkerman feat Dorothy and Andy Sherman, as well as René Amesz's 'Virtual Insanity'. As well as his album, look out for a podcast and radio show from Fedde next year.
