Sean Tyas
| NEW ENTRY

New York-born trance upstart Sean Tyas breaks into the Top 100 for the first time but then it's been that kind of year for the energetic producer. Collecting passport stamps by the week, Tyas has undoubtedly stepped up from next wave trance talent to established scene hotshot in the past 12 months. Trance touchstones like Ibiza's Judgement Sundays, The Gallery and Inside Out have all felt the propulsive rush of Tyas's unique sound, whilst Dutch festival Mysterland and Global Gathering festivals in UK, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Malaysia are also now tucked proudly under his DJ belt. Not forgetting experiences like his Easter tour across Australia and bizarre DJ entrances in Buenos Aires. "Three years ago if you told me I was going to be travelling round the world DJing I just wouldn't have believed you," he beams. "It wasn't that I didn't want the gigs - I just didn't expect them. I always thought it was about choosing one or the other - DJing or production - so I chose production." Fans of his soaring productions will be pleased that studio time hasn't been hit as a trade-off for his newfound DJ ubiquity. 'Heart To Heart' with Talla 2XLC and 'Somethin's Up' with Simon Patterson have been two of the biggest trance anthems of 2008. And with his debut artist album the next major target, there shouldn't be any shortage of Tyas production tidal waves next year either.
