With the Dutch trance big boys continuing to reign, it's easy to forget that Germany was most responsible for creating the original trance template back in the early '90s. Hell, even Sven Väth was playing it back then. But whilst names like Eye Q, Visions Of Shiva and Jam & Spoon are now long faded and Berlin is a minimal Mecca, Roger Shah continues to fly the flag for German trance sound with sets across Asia, Mexico, Eastern Europe and at Armin's Armada parties in Ibiza. "All my inspiration comes from the island," he tells us. "I always to try to give my tracks that summer mood and capture the feelings I have when I'm there." Indeed, it was in Ibiza where Roger Shah handed Armin Van Buuren his 'Beautiful' anthem on CDR at Amnesia. Armin snapped it up for release and Shah has since been fully embraced into the heart of the Armada family with his Magic Island label now operating under their umbrella. Enjoying his most prolific year to date, Shah also collaborated with Armin on the 'Going Wrong' anthem that appeared on Van Buuren's 'Imagine' LP, whilst also finding time to drop two double CD artist LPs of his own in 'Songbook' as DJ Shah, and 'Sunny Tales' under his Sunlounger guise.
