Eric Prydz

Where does Eric Prydz spend most of his time? "On trains," he says. "No seriously. I've done the calculations. I've travelled more this year than I ever have. Macedonia, a lot of Eastern European shows. Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, they've always been into techno, but now there are the bigger events like Global Gathering, and there wasn't so much of that before. The crowds are so excited and so into the music and the whole vibe, it's just a pleasure playing over there." Between gigs, Prydz has managed to finish his Pryda album, something he's been working on for the past four or so years. "It's a big achievement for me, that it's finally finished." Also near completion is a multi-media platform ericprydz.tv, which was much of 2009 in the making. "Over the years, I've not been all that press-friendly," he says. "I don't do that many interviews, I'd rather the music was the focus. But this platform is a way to get closer to the people who buy the music. So I've spent all year with a film crew with me, so people can see a bit more in depth. "When I was growing up with music, all the Detroit guys and people like Thomas Bangalter, they never did much press or promotion, which made it all the more cool and exciting. You had to go out and find the music."
