Judge Jules

Never have the words 'the Judge won't budge' seemed more apt. Celebrating a decade of Judgement Sundays at Ibiza's Amnesia in 2009, Jules remains one of dance music's most-loved originals, a trait that's helped recession proof him against this season's lull. "I'd be surprised if our numbers had dropped 10 percent on last year," he reckons, "which makes us one of the most successful nights on the island." Given his continued presence on Radio One, it's not surprising that Jules knows the importance of bringing a little razzle-dazzle to his events. "You need to have established favourites alongside new DJs, but you also have to work on the entertainment, so it's pure atmosphere." A second solo artist album, 'Bring The Noise', found him in fine form, while a part in 'Gatecrasher Trance Anthems: 1993 - 2009', mixing the upfront CD, saw it going on to sell well over 120,000 copies. And if you thought that you can't teach an old DJ new tricks, think again. Jules recently branched out into fashion, setting up his own clothing line, Heroes to Villains. With the first collection sold out, a second is now in the offing. "It's kind of club wear more than DJ driven," he says. "Check my website for details."
