Marcel Woods

'Exotic' would be a fairly good way to describe the last 12 months in the life of Marcel Woods. "I've done a lot in Asia this year - China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia," reflects Woods. "I used to be very focused on Europe, but recently I've spread my wings, been over to Asia a lot and fallen in love with the place." His travels have been full of experiences too. "While I was in China I was taken into a restaurant with a live crocodile in it. It was tied with a thin rope in front of the counter. I did wonder if you could order it, but thought better of asking!" But Marcel hasn't been starving his home country of his electronic sounds, which he clarifies as "anything between 128 and 135 bpm". He adds: "I've played in The Netherlands ten times this year and I'm still loving the vibe of it too. Especially the main stage at Trance Energy - that was mental this year!" What time Marcel's not spent behind a pair of CDJs, he's spent locked in the studio. "'Inside Me' came out in May and that did really well. I've just remixed Tiësto's 'Escape Me' too and I did a re-boot of 'Kernkraft 400' for my sets, which has been going down a storm!" Looking ahead to next year, Woods is fully focused on his first artist album. "It's due out in the spring and the deadlines are terrifying me at the moment," he says. "Not quite as much as that crocodile did though!"
