Steve Angello

Despite some internet snipery in 2011, Steve Angello has not been held back. Much of his time has been taken up as one-third of the now fully internationalised dance brand that is the Swedish House Mafia, but there were still 95 solo shows for the man this summer, as well as a chart-topping club banger with Alex Metric ('Open Your Eyes') back in May, plus other assorted edits.
“We've focused on the Swedish House Mafia more this year,” he says. “Building the brand - not just coming in for a set and leaving, but hosting tents, having guest DJs just like we showcased back in Miami. It's about giving the fans a better experience. That's why we do it.”
That experience now often culminates with the Swedes' own rock-licked, end-of-night 2011 anthem, 'Save The World'. It was, reports Steve, designed specifically for that moment so that everyone could join-in. “We're still inspired by the same music, we've always been suckers for big riffs and sing-a-long choruses,” Steve admits. “I'm the same playing solo, but I just love being with the boys - we all have kids now so can travel as one happy family.”
He tells us of his input into the Size Matters events brand and his own label, Size, which has recently undergone an overhaul, before he says this about the winter: “I'm just gonna do four shows a month, I've decided. I wanna get back in the studio and make music, but I also want to spend time with my daughter. I missed her first words and her first steps - I don't wanna miss any more.”
