Matt Darey

Matt Darey is widely recognized for his weekly Nocturnal podcast broadcast across 35 countries, which was nominated for the Best Podcast at Miami's Winter Music Conference and for Best Radio Mix Show at the International Dance Music Awards.

Regularly attracting the likes of Sasha, Tiësto and Paul Van Dyk for guest mixes, Darey's eclectic selection covers a lot of ground.
“The boundaries have been blurred for some time and it helps keep things fresh,” Matt says. “I'm always looking out for new music that takes influences from multiple genres.”
Active in the trance scene since 1994 and perhaps best known for his work in the 'Euphoria' series, Darey's sets at UK clubs such as Gatecrasher and Slinky don't follow a one-dimensional template.
“I kinda fit into a few categories depending on the kind of crowd I'm spinning to,””he reckons. “I play a lot of house, prog house and some trance-influenced [stuff], vocals, big breakdowns; mainly my own music nowadays,” he explains.
This open-mindedness extends to the marketing of dance, as he tells us. “Commercial EDM feeds the underground with fresh clubbers discovering underground dance music for the first time, not a bad thing.” With his debut artist album ready for release, Matt has no intention of keeping his feet on the ground. “I'd love to be the first DJ to travel into space, so if anyone out there has the right connection, hit me up!” DAVID MCCARTHY
