Keeping things diverse is the key for Dutch main room trio W&W aka Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst. 

“2014 for us was really a year of trying new things in the studio, and playing around with different sounds and styles. In our DJ sets we also tried to broaden our style as much as we could, to bring something fresh and original that’s really our own.”

It’s an evolution that’s perfectly represented by their most recent single 'Shocker', produced in collaboration with fellow Dutchman Headhunterz; someone who has coincidentally had a similar career trajectory. While he’s a DJ/producer expanding from his hardstyle roots towards the festival main stages, W&W on the other hand rose from the trance scene.

“There was an instant connection when we met Headhunterz, so we decided to work on some music together. It was very inspiring to see his approach to certain things. But trance is still a big inspiration for us in the studio, and we’re following everything happening in the scene. Playing an A State Of Trance party is a very good opportunity to try out the more trancey stuff we’re producing.”

What's the most exciting thing to happen to dance music lately? “A few years ago all music styles came together, which was very exciting! Nowadays artists are slowly going back to their roots a little bit more, which we also find quite exciting.”
