Not to be confused with the avant-garde art movement of the same name, Dada Life are more about fun than breaking down creative boundaries. Saying that, they did smash the world record for the largest-ever pillow fight in October 2013, which, while hardly a surreal subversion of rational thinking in the form of poetry, painting or theatrical performance, is definitely pretty damn crazy.

Apart from encouraging 3,813 ravers to have a ruck with enough cushions to fill an Ikea warehouse, the Swedish duo cite balancing live shows with studio time as key to their success in 2014, while flying into their Dada Voyage event — a two-day camping festival for 10,000 in California — in a hot air balloon also sits near the top of this year's list of highlights.

Still claiming to be leaders of “Dada Land” (they're actually from Stockholm) — “the citizens of Dada Land know who their presidents are!” they tell DJ Mag over email — they're as bonkers as their live shows. With hits like 'One Smile' and 'Freaks Have More Fun' already this year, plus plans to bring Dada Land to Europe in the offing, Dada Life are still very much alive despite a slight slide in the poll this year.
