Long-standing Swiss producer Mike Candys (Michael Kull) has every reason to grin just as widely as the smiley yellow mask he’s become known for wearing during his DJ sets. 2014 has been another solid and successful year for him, involving a lot of touring (both festivals and club shows, the latter including a set at the Space Opening Fiesta in Ibiza), including stints around Europe and Asia.

As ever, Kull continues to focus on melody and uplifting house tones rather than big-room bangers. “Where other producers go a little bit harder, I go a little bit more melodic and positive,” he explains. It’s a sound that’s summed up in single ‘Miracles’, released earlier this year.

The start of next year should be an interesting time for Candys. Though he doesn’t divulge any details, he mentions that he is “working on several projects and collabs now, so in the beginning of 2015 there will be a lot of new music released”. With that in the pipeline and another big tour across parts of Asia being planned, there’s every reason for Kull to keep smiling.
