After debuting in our poll in 2016, DJ Snake has once again been voted as one of the Top 100 DJs of the year — up a big 10 places to No.22. Formerly a graffiti artist constantly trying to evade police in the Parisian suburbs, he is now better known for being listed in Forbes ’30 Under 30’ list and for his latest single ‘Let Me Love You’ with the smooth vocal work of Canadian Justin Bieber.

That single came on his August-released debut album ‘Encore’ (which features other tracks with fellow big hitters like Skrillex) and also this year, Snake has worked with Major Lazer on his ‘Lean On’ single. His style is to mix up tropical house, pop-leaning vocals and big shiny bass with fresher than fresh, trap-inspired production featuring crisp snares and catchy melodies.

Another big moment for the Frenchman this year was when he and Diplo came together to accuse Fuck Me I’m Famous man David Guetta of plagiarism. Snake posted a series of tweets (that he later deleted) that suggested Guetta’s Euro 2016 Tournament song ‘This One’s For You’ is “horrible” and a “fake ‘Lean On’”. Guetta never replied, but Diplo did wade in to agree with Snake.

Currently riding off the fact that ‘Let Me Love You’ is No.1 in many countries around the world,  Snake has gigs all over North and South America between now and Christmas. KRISTAN CARYL
