Carl Cox is unstoppable. He celebrated a landmark birthday on 29th July with a star-studded private party on an English country estate, yet looks to be busier than ever. “I’ve been very busy this year with my live electronic show set-ups, and rolling that out with my hybrid performances,” he tells DJ Mag. He debuted his new live show at Ultra in Miami in March on the Resistance Megastructure that he hosted during the Bayfront Park event at the end of Miami Music Week, and declared to DJ Mag that playing live was the future for him.

When the Ibiza season rolled around, he commandeered DC-10 for a succession of Tuesday nights, showcasing some of his Awesome Soundwave artists in the Main Room like Christopher Coe, Lady Starlight, Saytek and Mat Playford — who all play live — alongside a procession of DJ pals on DC-10’s Terrace such as Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Clara Da Costa and Darren Emerson.

“I also got back doing all the shows that got postponed over the last two years,” Carl tells us, DJ sets which took him to Brighton, Madrid, Istanbul, Chicago, Amsterdam and oh-so many other places during 2022.

Without even going into his motorsport exploits, he also readied his ‘Electronic Generations’ album for release late in the year — a feast of Plastikman-style underground techno, recorded chiefly during lockdown — and debuted it live at London’s Wembley Arena in mid-October. Coxy is unstoppable.
