From: UK

DJ style: From house to techno.

Best known for: Paradise parties, Hot Creations, ‘Hungry For The Power’.

Jamie Jones is no stranger to following the sound. Since cutting his teeth on the East London club circuit in the early ‘00s — “going from Friday until Sunday, from warehouse space to loft, to pub, to apartment, just party to party” — the Welsh DJ, producer and Hot Creations boss has lived and breathed the underground, while straddling the world of big festivals and clubs. It makes sense, then, that after hosting his Paradise parties at Ibiza’s DC-10 for the last decade, 2022 saw one of the biggest moves in Jones’ career to date, with Paradise making its new home at White Isle superclub Amnesia. Alongside helming the new residency, the artist has released a slew of EPs and singles this year, on his own Hot Creations imprint, as well as via the purveyors of new school house, Defected. He’s also graced festival stages from Creamfields to Sonus, as well as at Serbia’s Lovefest, Loveland Amsterdam’s 25th anniversary event and WE R FSTVL, and hosted his own Paradise In The Park festival in L.A in June. Where to next?

What’s the best DJ set you’ve seen this year?

“I didn't get to hang out and listen to many sets this year but Joey Daniel at Sunwaves in April was killer, he played deep minimal grooves but with a jack to them.”

Name one great festival you played for the first time this year…

Peacock Society, Paris.”

What’s the next big sound?

I don't know, the scene is so big now, there's always several new movements happening all at once. I'm personally playing a lot of deep tribal techno stuff that reminds me of 2000's NYC house from Sound Factory. It's a modern take on that.”
