They say that only two things in life are certain — death and taxes. Well, we reckon that Tiësto being in the higher end of our poll should be added to that list. The titanic Dutchman has been one of the world's biggest stars for decades but always manages to retain his status year on year, partly because he still devotes so much time to evolving his sound. He was a trance forefather, then pioneered the first wave of EDM, then turned towards so-called 'future house’, and then deep house.
This year, Tijs Michiel Verwest mixed it up again with the release of his latest album, ‘Drive’, in March. It's his seventh solo long-player and one that went big on collaborations with the likes of Ava Max, Black Eyed Peas, Tate McRae, Charli XCX and Karol G amongst those featuring. The album performed predictably well in the charts, making it into the top 100 of the US Billboard 200 and taking the top spot in the UK Dance Chart. Alongside this, he toured the album and played everywhere from Ibiza to LA, Romania to Sweden, and never failed to leave his fans as delirious as ever.
