DJ style: House and progressive for huge rooms (and stages)
Best known for: Huge anthems like ‘One’ and ‘Don’t You Worry Child’.
It’s been a landmark year yet again for Swedish House Mafia. With dust settled on their monumental 2022 ‘Paradise Again’ world tour in support of their long-awaited debut album of the same name, January began with fans getting their heads around the outfit’s work for the soundtrack to Avatar: The Way of Water. Then we had members Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso’s collaborative single under the Buy Now moniker, and the announcement that all three would head out to Italian institution Kappa FuturFestival to play a “very special techno set”.
If you were there, you’ll know that was no false promise, but their landmark performance barely scratches the surface of a frantic few months. The huge single, ’Ray Of Solar’, and equally sized remixes reached anthem status. The outfit topped the bill at some truly monumental dance events during summer, from Creamfields and multiple editions of Ultra Music Festival on different continents, to a Tomorrowland set during which they broke news that a second album is waiting in the wings. Despite all that, they still found time to stop by some of our favourite clubs, including an exhaustive Ibiza season capped by another celebrated Sunday at Ushuaïa Ibiza.
